Following breakfast, our morning tour departs for the renowned Viennese Ring, a mere 20-minute drive from our port. Discover the iconic Urania, the majestic State Opera House, the impressive Parliament, St. Stephen’s church, and the historic Hofburg Palace. Along the way you’ll discover Vienna’s rich culture and stunning architecture. Return to the ship for a delightful lunch, leaving the afternoon for your leisurely pursuits. Alternatively, opt for our guided optional tour of the Hofburg Palace, which housed the Austrian sovereigns, including the illustrious Habsburgs, for over 600 years until their rule concluded in 1918. The palace, much like Vienna itself, has evolved over the centuries, with its initial construction dating back to the 13th century. Then return to ship, set sail at night. Overnight onboard.

Day 4: Melk - Durnstein

This morning arrive at Melk, follow the tour to Melk Abbey, a masterpiece of Baroque architecture. Founded in 1089, it features stunning frescoes, a grand marble hall, and a historic library with medieval manuscripts. This UNESCO World Heritage site offers a rich journey through centuries of religious and artistic heritage.

Then set sail to Durnstein at noon, a medieval castle town situated in the UNESCO World Heritage “Wachau Valley” wine region.

The Wachau Valley is most memorable for the breathtaking views of castle ruins, monasteries, and vertical vineyards that appear to be at 90-degree inclines. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.You may explore the town on your own pace, see the ruins of Durnstein Castle where King Richard of England, also known as Richard the Lionheart, was imprisoned. Often referred to as the 'Paris of the East,' Budapest, Hungary's capital, is a captivating blend of history and charm. Explore this enchanting city on a guided bus and walking tour, tracing the Danube River's division of 'Buda' and 'Pest' and its impact on the city's development. Discover historic landmarks along Andrássy Út street, including the Opera, Hero’s Square, the vibrant under-cover market, St. Stephen’s church, Europe's largest synagogue (where Franz Liszt once played), and the majestic Hungarian Parliament, known for its striking resemblance to the British Parliament buildings.
